The Scarpa R-evolution Pro GTX is a technically advanced and superbly comfortable mountain walking and scrambling boot with clever construction techniques to ensure you remain controlled and comfortable whatever your activity.
Sock-Fit XT construction, as the name implies, gives a fit that feels like a sock. Your foot is wrapped in a one-piece Schoeller softshell fabric tongue that avoids bulk and uncomfortable creasing over the foot and helps to keep you securely held even on prolonged and steep descents. The one-piece Schoeller fabric also extends around the ankle flex point and collar of the boot to completely wrap your foot securely and comfortably. The Schoeller fabric is stretchy, breathable, waterproof, and very tough, and will retain those characteristics for the life of the boot.
The rest of the boot is made up of a high-quality 1.8mm water-resistant suede leather with protective rubber rand from toe to heel and is fully lined with the reliable Gore-Tex membrane for complete waterproofing. The heel also features a fully padded self-moulding memory foam internal lining that uses body heat to adapt to your individual anatomical shape. This memory foam keeps its dynamic memory and recovers its thickness and original shape after every use. An external heel tension support system helps to lock your heel into position to avoid blisters and to provide superb support.
Because the lacing extends right down to the toe, you can achieve the perfect tension to suit a wide variety of foot shapes. To provide comfort and support, the R-evolution Pro GTX uses a PU shock-absorbing midlayer with a Vibram rubber outsole. The Vibram sole utilises different-shaped lugs to provide a superb balance between precision for scrambling and climbing and cushioning and control for trekking and mountaineering. These precision lugs provide an external thrust area, maximum grip zones at the toe and heel, a braking area in the centre and leading heel edge, and self-cleaning grooves to minimise clogging in mud and snow. The materials used in the sole are designed to absorb negative impact forces from the ground and therefore reduce stress to lower limbs and maximise the energy used during propulsion.
The Scarpa R-evolution Pro GTX does not have an official B rating, but it does have the Active Plus stiff midsole board designed for more vertical adventures and is capable of accepting one of the more modern lightweight walking crampons and spikes (Microspikes) for security on steep snow or glacier crossing.
